The software consists of two parts - the crossword program itself (to serve puzzles to players) and an interactive generator (to help authors enter their clues and solutions).

The crossword program comes in two formats:

Table based version allows a player to enter multiple words in one go but some very old browsers will show garbage instead of a table. Lynx works just fine. Click here to see a working demo.

This is some relatively old stuff - written back in 1995 to support online crossword puzzles served on WWW using CGI. Many online publications now use one of the formats above (with some variations). Some still use static GIF images, PDF files or tables, which you have to print (unless you scribble on your screen). Some rely on share- and freeware and allow you to download puzzles to be solved with that particular ware. Some have yet to hear about WWW or crosswords.

I'm more interested in the interactivity on the Web, where Java comes first and CGI is second best, so I still keep this page for Java-challenged browsers. Enjoy!
